The AI chatbot that answers
visitors while you sleep.
GhostChat's built-in AI chatbot answers your visitors automatically — 24/7, straight from your FAQ, no setup and no extra infrastructure. You stay in control and can take over any conversation instantly.
Powered by Claude. One flat plan, $39/mo — no per-resolution or per-message fees, ever.
The chat right here is live — the real widget, running our real AI. Try it.
This is live — the real widget, answering with our real AI.
A visitor messages your site at 2am. You're asleep. The AI answers immediately.
It uses your FAQ knowledge base to give accurate, on-brand replies. If it doesn't know the answer, it asks for the visitor's name and email and notifies you — so no lead slips through.
No server to run. No Anthropic API key needed. Configure it in two minutes from your dashboard and it's live.
What visitors actually see
Two real scenarios. One the AI answers from your FAQ. The other it hands off cleanly.
From your FAQ entry: “What's your shipping policy?”
You see every conversation in your dashboard. Jump in any time — the AI steps back instantly.
You don't write the knowledge base. We do.
Every other chatbot hands you an empty form. GhostChat reads your website and drafts the whole setup — you just approve it.
Turn it on
In your dashboard go to AI Assistant and toggle it on for your site. No API keys, no webhook URLs, no server.
Click “Generate with AI”
Confirm your website address and hit go. Here's what happens next:
Claude Sonnet reads your site
Your key pages — homepage, about, pricing, FAQ, contact, shipping, returns. Up to 50 pages.
It drafts your entire setup
You review and edit
Nothing is saved until you hit Apply. Reword anything, uncheck any answer you don't want.
Live — answering visitors
The whole thing takes about a minute.
Prefer to do it yourself? You can still add question-and-answer pairs by hand. Either way, the AI treats them as its source of truth and won't make things up outside of them.
Take over any conversation instantly
Every AI conversation shows up in your dashboard with a banner. Click Take over — or just start typing — and the AI steps back immediately. Visitors see a seamless transition.
Redesigned your site? Run it again.
Added pages, changed your pricing, rebuilt the whole thing? Hit Generate with AI again and it re-reads your site from scratch and drafts a fresh setup. Choose Replace and it swaps your old answers for the new ones instead of stacking duplicates — so your bot never ends up quoting a page you deleted.
Built to just work — solo or with a team
No ops. No per-message charges. No chatbot builder. Just answers.
Responds 24/7
Answers while you sleep, eat, or ship your next feature. Visitors in every timezone get an instant, helpful reply instead of silence.
Grounded in your FAQ
The AI only answers what it knows from your knowledge base. It won't hallucinate pricing, policies, or product details it hasn't been told.
Hands off gracefully
When a visitor asks something outside its knowledge or wants a human, it collects their name and email and notifies you — no lead lost.
Typing indicator
Visitors see a typing animation before the AI replies — it feels like a real person, not an instant bot dump. No uncanny valley.
Full dashboard visibility
Every AI conversation appears in your dashboard exactly like a human chat. Read them, search them, and jump in at any time.
Zero widget overhead
The AI runs on our servers. Your widget stays ~15KB. Lighthouse scores, Core Web Vitals, and page speed are unaffected.

FAQ
Is GhostChat a chatbot?
Yes — it's a full AI chatbot for your website, built right into the live chat widget. It answers visitor questions automatically 24/7 from your FAQ knowledge base, qualifies leads, and hands off to a human when needed. Unlike a rigid decision-tree bot, it understands plain language (it runs on Claude), so visitors just type their question and get a real answer.
What does the AI know out of the box?
It knows your site name and whatever you put in the Behavior Instructions field. Out of the box (no FAQ entries added) it will politely greet visitors, answer general questions about your business based on your instructions, and ask for the visitor's name and email if it needs to hand off to you. The more FAQ entries you add, the more accurate and specific its answers become.
What happens when the AI can't answer a question?
If the AI isn't confident about an answer, it tells the visitor it doesn't know and asks for their name and email so you can follow up. It sends a handoff notification to your dashboard and inbox so you can jump in — the same as any other conversation.
Can I take over a conversation the AI is handling?
Yes. Every AI conversation appears in your dashboard with a banner showing "AI is handling this conversation." Click Take over — or just reply — and the AI immediately steps back. The visitor sees your messages instantly.
Does the AI respond even when I'm online?
Yes — the AI answers every new conversation 24/7, even when you're online. The moment you reply in a chat, it steps aside and hands that conversation to you. When it can't answer, it connects the visitor with you live if you're available, or captures their name and email to follow up if you're away.
Does this add weight to my widget?
Barely. The AI thinking happens entirely on our servers — the widget itself stays ~15KB gzipped. Visitors on slow connections see no difference.
Which AI model does this use?
GhostChat's AI assistant uses Claude Haiku — Anthropic's fast, cost-efficient model. It's optimized for short, accurate, friendly replies. You don't need an Anthropic API key; it's part of the AI plan at no extra cost per reply.
Where do AI conversations go? Is this still privacy-first?
Yes. When the AI assistant is enabled, visitor messages, recent conversation history, and your site's FAQ content are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate replies — nothing else, and Anthropic doesn't use any of it to train its models. You can turn the assistant off per site at any time — sites with it off never send anything to Anthropic. The widget still sets zero cookies and does zero tracking either way. Full details are in our privacy policy.
Is this different from the Bot Agent?
Yes. The AI Assistant is zero-setup — you configure it in your dashboard and it works immediately, on the AI plan ($39/mo). The Bot Agent is a developer tool from Pro ($12/mo) for connecting your own LLM (Claude, GPT-4, Ollama, etc.) via webhook. Use AI Assistant if you want something that just works. Use Bot Agent if you want full control over the model and infrastructure.
Does the AI have usage limits?
The AI is built to answer your visitors around the clock, and the AI plan comes with a monthly allowance of 1000 AI replies to visitors. Dashboard tests count toward the same allowance. If you ever approach it, we warn you in the dashboard, and even at the limit your chat keeps working: instead of an AI-drafted reply, visitors still reach you — connected with you live when you're available, or leaving their name and email when you're away. It resets at the start of each month. These allowances are new — we're watching how people actually use the AI and expect to raise them, so if you hit yours, email me.
Does the AI chatbot work on WordPress, Shopify, or WooCommerce?
Yes. The AI chatbot works anywhere the GhostChat widget runs — WordPress (via the official plugin), WooCommerce, Shopify, React, Next.js, or a plain HTML site. Add the widget, turn the AI on in your dashboard, and it answers visitors on that site. WooCommerce stores can also feed live cart and product context into the chat.
How much does the AI chatbot cost?
The AI plan is $39/mo flat — everything in Team, plus the assistant answering visitors. No per-resolution fee, no credit packs, no metering. It includes up to 1000 AI replies a month and a knowledge base of 50 Q&As per site (every site on your account gets its own). Free, Starter, Pro and Team don't include the assistant.
