When fixing bugs in code for which there are unit tests, please follow these steps:

• Add a minimal test case which reproduces the problem. Do not check this in before the bug is fixed, or you will be adding failures to the test suite.
• Verify that the test case does indeed fail in the same way.
• Fix the bug.
• Verify that the test case now succeeds, and that no other test cases are broken.
• Check in your fix.
• Update the issue tracker.

Note that it is possible to update the issue tracker when checking in your code by putting the correct messages in the revision log entry. This can be quite convenient.
