Predictable usage by design
Work is admitted before it starts and counted only when it succeeds, within limits you choose. Prices exclude VAT, which the invoice shows separately.
Limits you choose
Paid work that would pass the monthly usage limit you set is refused before it starts. On the free allowance alone, work stops when it runs out and nothing is charged.
Cache hits count nothing
An identical request served from cache counts nothing against any allowance or limit. The cache is short-lived, so treat a hit as a bonus rather than a promise.
Failed renders are never charged
A render counts only once its output exists. A failure, a refused input or a cancellation before output counts nothing.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I get started?
- Create a free account, generate an API key in the dashboard and send your first request. Every account has a free allowance each month, including 500 screenshots, and does not need a card.
- Does Ironfang Render add a watermark?
- No. Nothing you render through the API carries an Ironfang badge or watermark, with or without Pay as you go. Only the anonymous free tools on ironfang.com mark their output. Every account uses the same API, rendering fleet and product features.
- How is usage counted?
- Each kind of output has its own meter. A screenshot, a PDF or a templated image counts one. Clips count output seconds, with 1080p on one meter and 720p or square on another, and site previews count output seconds with the poster included. QR codes are a free utility. Failed work counts nothing, and so does a cache hit. Every meter has a free allowance each month; the pricing page lists the allowances and rates.
- What happens when I reach a limit?
- Without Pay as you go, work that needs a used-up free allowance is refused with a 429 until the allowance renews on the first day of the next month (UTC), and nothing is charged. With Pay as you go, usage past the free allowances is charged at the published rates, and paid work that would pass the monthly usage limit you set is refused before it starts. Someone with billing rights can switch Pay as you go on, pause it or change the limit in the portal.
- Where does it run?
- Ironfang Render runs on infrastructure Ironfang operates in the UK. Cloudflare's global edge caches rendered assets for delivery.
- Which automation platforms can I use?
- n8n: the Ironfang node is verified by n8n, so it works on n8n Cloud as well as self-hosted n8n. An instance owner installs it once, by searching for Ironfang in the nodes panel, and everyone on the instance can then use it; self-hosted instances can also install @ironfang/n8n-nodes-ironfang from Settings, Community Nodes. Make and Zapier can use Ironfang Render through their HTTP request steps because the API uses standard HTTPS and JSON.
