Ivan Fedyunin

I'm a senior backend engineer with 15+ years building and running production systems, mostly with Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL. My current product work uses Go and Python. I'm looking for backend and product engineering work, especially in Go.

Selected work

  • HostelPunk: a hostel-discovery product I built and run with Go, Python and PostgreSQL/PostGIS. Normalized 74M reviews from four sources and matched 22,600 properties across their catalogs. Architecture and project notes.
  • Go/PostgreSQL work sample: my implementation of Fintual's Backend/DevOps interview exercise, with API behavior tests, SQL optimization and documented benchmarks.
  • lsend: a scriptable LocalSend-compatible CLI in Rust. It adds persistent identity, JSON output, explicit receive policies and file-handling safeguards around the official LocalSend Rust core. The project write-up describes the development process and AI assistance.

I also contribute to open source, including RuboCop and Herdr.
