Fork maintenance: This is ontola/openapi-directory, focused on official descriptions
of well-known industry APIs. The source registry lists the
service artifacts checked by the weekly workflow.
The updater compares complete vendor content, preserves existing curation, and validates
each import. Reviewed sources can resolve external references, materialize code samples,
replay exact patches, or discover newer numeric releases; recipes are source-specific.
See the updater guide for reproducible commands and
AGENTS.md for scope, completed work and unresolved candidates.
Workflow runs
publish an official-source-audit artifact containing the JSON freshness report and raw
source snapshots. A failed audit can contain successful comparisons alongside recorded
validation or source-health blockers. A match establishes agreement with the configured
source, not freshness of every API offered by that vendor.
Imports are delivered in separate PRs for each API, with provenance in the spec's info
block. Automatic update PR creation and monthly discovery remain implementation work.
Use this fork's committed API files for its additions; a public collection API
serving this fork has not been published. The inherited badges, REST API, RSS, integrations,
sponsorship and upstream contribution material below describe APIs.guru.
Directory of API definitions in OpenAPI(fka Swagger) 2.0 and 3.x formats.
Upstream collection API: documentation, with upstream RSS feeds for added and updated APIs.
Our goal is to create the most comprehensive, standards-compliant and up-to-date directory of machine-readable API definitions, with the following principles:
- Open source, community driven project.
- Only publicly available APIs (free or paid).
- Anyone can add or change an API, not only API owners.
- All data can be accessed through a REST API.
If you reference this project and you need an icon or even a banner, check our branding guide.
APIs.guru provide services and consultancy around the GraphQL and OpenAPI specifications and APIs in general. You can contact us at founders@apis.guru
- Filter out private and non-reliable APIs
- Convert non-OpenAPI formats into OpenAPI 3.x
- Fix mistakes, ~80% of definitions have some
- Add additional data, like: logo, categories, …
- Update definitions on at least a weekly basis
- Public - anyone can access it as long as they follow some clearly defined steps (subscribe, pay fees, etc.).
- Persistent - API is made with long-lived goal, and not for a particular event (conference, hackathon, etc.).
- Useful - API should provide useful functionality not only for its owner.
Weekly checks cover only registered sources. They are read-only; they publish drift, separate additions/removals, validation results and source revisions. The report includes unsupported and archived sources rather than silently treating them as current. Historical files outside the registry have no freshness guarantee.
To refresh an API, follow the maintenance commands and
fork contribution instructions. A declared version bump adds a new
directory; unchanged vendor versions can require an in-place content refresh. Each spec's
info.x-origin identifies its source and info.x-conversion records transformations.
Report fork-specific stale descriptions or missing official sources in
this fork's issues.

The upstream project recommends its REST API for upstream collection access. That service is not a verified publication endpoint for this fork's additions. For fork content, read the committed files under APIs and pin the repository revision when you need reproducibility. A fork index must be published and checked for consumer access before it can be advertised here.
