This project provides a robust setup to run your browser profile entirely in RAM (tmpfs) on KDE Neon. This reduces disk wear (especially for SSDs) and improves browser responsiveness. I specifically need MS Edge to run in RAM. Google Chrome and Firefox. You may search for other browsers that can run in RAM, but I think those are the only ones I have installed. If I need to close Edge before you start or at any step, please prompt me to do so.
- Automatic sync of browser profile to RAM on startup.
- Periodic sync from RAM back to disk to prevent data loss.
- Automatic sync back to disk on shutdown.
- Support for multiple browsers (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Brave, etc.).
- I am more interested in speed and disk wear than data loss.
- Sleep mode should flush to disk.
- Memory monitor could be used to flush unnecessary temp files from RAM to clear up memory with a stale file check on RAM files to keep the RAM files reasonably small.
We will use a custom Systemd service and a synchronization script to manage the lifecycle of the browser profile in RAM.
The configuration will be stored in config.conf.
