I make software, games and teaching materials—usually to find out whether an idea survives contact with use.
My work moves between computing education, creative practice and research into responsible technology. I’m drawn to small systems whose workings can be understood: things people can play, alter, question and learn from.

Keep These — a tool for making blackout poetry from classic writing. It chooses nothing for you, stores work in your browser and keeps every poem connected to its source. Source →

Cream Cheese — a modern version of Bagels, the old deductive number game.

The Horizontal Front — a satirical arcade game about Capitalism and resistance to hierarchy. Source →

Quizmo — ten numerical questions, ten seconds each, and layouts that become increasingly unhelpful.
I also design and teach software-development, data-analysis and creative-computing courses. Some of the resulting materials live among the repositories here.
I like software that is small enough to inspect, useful enough to test with people and open enough to be challenged. I care about privacy, accessibility, attribution and understanding the plumbing.
Not everything here is finished. Much of it exists because building the thing is how I work out what I think.
Licensing varies between projects. Please check the relevant repository before reusing code, text or media.
