Review of all aspects other than wordlist was conducted under PR into main that was reverted. Wordlist has been checked and looks fine. Actions are passing.

This is a redo of PR #202, which was setup for merging into
main. Please refer to that PR for more information as well as its review history.While it was merged into
mainwe reverted as we deteremined that the correct course of action is to merge this intodevelopin anticipation of the BAND framework v1.0 release. In particular, this should make its way tomainthrough the release.Please note that SmoothEmulator now has its own external repository in the
bandframeworkorganization. As part of the v1.0 release, it's possible that the code being merged in this PR will be removed by a subsequent branch/PR that simply links SmoothEmulator to that repo.I note that
software/SmoothEmulatorexcept for the word list for the spell checker actiondevelopby PR Synchronize feature branch #210 with manual, correct resolution of merge conflicts in the word list
