What Domternal Pro adds

Six capabilities released together in Domternal Pro 1.0.

Comments

Threaded discussions anchored to selected text or an entire block.

  • Comment on an image, table, or any other block, not only selected text
  • Use the docked thread panel or build your own UI
  • Reply, resolve, and reopen without adding comment actions to undo history

Version history

Named checkpoints alongside automatic captures.

  • Compare any two versions with author-attributed changes
  • Preview a version before restoring it
  • Restoring creates a backup first, preserving the existing history

AI assistant

Bring your own provider or endpoint.

  • Improve, shorten, translate, change tone, or continue writing
  • Preview generations and review selection transforms as a word-level diff
  • Accept to commit one undoable change, or discard to restore the original

Real-time collaboration

Edit together in real time.

  • Yjs-based synchronization with the backend you choose
  • Live cursors and presence
  • Per-user undo that never reverts a colleague's changes

Columns

Notion-style multi-column layouts.

  • Create through commands, the slash menu, or block drag
  • Resize columns while preserving a practical minimum width
  • Empty columns are cleaned up automatically

Export

Generate Word and PDF files in the browser or a Node.js process.

  • Word (.docx) files with real threaded comments, not flattened text
  • PDF files that preserve merged table cells
  • Generate files locally with no Domternal conversion service

What remains open source

Every version already published under MIT remains open source and free under that license forever. This includes released versions of the editor core and the Angular, React, Vue, and Vanilla components. It also includes released versions of the Notion-style block controls, tables, images, emoji, mentions, math, and the default theme.

Pro is delivered as separate commercial add-on packages. This statement covers existing MIT releases and does not determine the license for future, unpublished versions. Start with the open-source packages and add Pro when you need it. The Free vs Pro guide compares every current boundary, feature area and licensing path.

Where your content lives

Your application content stays in infrastructure you select. Pro is distributed as npm packages you install and run. License validation and activation run locally and send Domternal no documents, comments, prompts, telemetry, usage data, or licensing data. The packages contain no hard-coded Domternal endpoint to which they automatically transmit application content or licensing data.

Because Domternal does not meter runtime usage, pricing is based only on licensed developers. Documents, end users, applications, and requests are unlimited.

Two features use endpoints you configure. Real-time collaboration connects to a WebSocket server you choose. With the bundled Yjs stores, that server also stores document versions and keeps comment threads in sync. You can also use custom stores. The AI assistant calls the endpoint you configure, so its requests are handled by the provider you choose. Both are covered in the self-hosting guide. The Domternal-operated playground is a separate website demo that explicitly configures our AI proxy, as the Privacy Policy explains.

Domternal Pro 1.1 availability and pricing

Domternal Pro 1.1.0, published on September 21, 2026, includes the six Pro areas listed above and localized built-in UI with optional German catalogs. The release announcement walks through each feature area. The packages install from the public npm registry without a private registry or access token. Each area has a dedicated documentation page.

The browser playground demonstrates representative in-browser workflows. Headless, server-side, worker, custom-UI, and self-hosted operations are covered in the documentation. An accepted paid Order licenses production use. A Commercial Key activates the package versions it covers. License validation runs offline, so your builds never depend on our uptime. Understand the Pro license in plain English, including Developer counting, OEM scope and post-subscription rights.

The Team plan starts at €159 a month billed annually for up to five developers (€1,908 a year, up to €5,268 at fifteen). Prices exclude VAT. Review Domternal Pro pricing for full plan, licensing, and purchase details.
