My name is Rodrigo Martín and I develop open source projects.
I am the creator and primary maintainer of react-native-tcp-socket and react-native-background-actions. In addition, I am also the primary maintainer of react-native-udp and I help in react-native-wifi-reborn.
I use the sponsor resources, that I would otherwise need from a full-time job, to pay for small software expenses to support the open source projects. Furthermore, with enough sponsorships, I could continue creating React Native and IoT related open source projects.
react-native-tcp-socket
react-native-tcp-socket is a React Native library that offers a client and server TCP sockets (+ client SSL/TLS) API that run natively on Android and iOS.
The project was born from the overall community need for fast and reliable React Native libraries to communicate with IoT devices. react-native-tcp-socket can be used to communicate consistently with any IoT device just using a phone, regardless of its OS.
react-native-background-actions
react-native-background-actions is a React Native background service library for running background tasks forever in Android and iOS.
After testing all available React Native libraries that offer a background service API, I could not find one that fit my cross-platform requirements. That is why I decided to create react-native-background-actions. With this library, you can schedule a background job that will run your JavaScript when your app is in the background or foreground, even if the app has been closed.
react-native-udp
react-native-udp is a React Native socket API for Android & iOS. It allows you to create UDP sockets, imitating Node's dgram API functionalities.
While working on react-native-tcp-socket and my own personal projects, I came across react-native-udp. The repository was almost completely abandoned. After exchanging some emails with @mvayngrib, I was given access to the repository! Since then, I have been working on a whole repository reconstruction: removing deprecated functionalities, adding TS support, solving issues, etc. There is still a lot to do, but everything is coming together.
I am always looking for feedback from the users and other developers. I know that there is a still a lot to do, but GitHub Sponsors is a step forward.
Thank you for considering your sponsorship! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
