Perhaps @zooba can help clarify. |

I would very much like the downloads to offer:
Eventually (hopefully), we'll have an ARM64 download as well, but I don't want to release that until there is CI available for package developers. The 32-bit build works well enough for those users right now. |

But yes, the Store package is recommended unless:

Can we close this as a duplicate of #1611? |

Hey dear I wanna suggest you to download python from python.org website instead of downloading it from Microsoft store... |
|
@ned-deily No, it's a very different topic. This issue is about it being unclear what the recommended distribution mechanism is on Windows. |
|
There have been some side discussions about this, and we want to simplify the list of files. @ned-deily Where do the sources for this page live? Or where is it generated from? I'm interested to figure out what possibilities we have (I know it's "just code" and we can do anything, but minimising change is also good). |

You mean the content for https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/ ? |
Describe the bug
I wanted to download Python on windows. As a Linux user, I'm sometimes not sure what's preferred: downloading from Python.org, or the Microsoft Store.
Python is present in both, and the MS Store says "Python Software Foundation", so it's clear that you maintain this package there... so.. what's the difference? Will both installation paths result in the same thing, or will one auto-update and the other won't?
I'm confused mostly because for Linux you don't provide binaries, only source, so I don't have to deal with deciding: the system package makes sense to keep it updated and all too.
Expected behavior
Find just one way of doing something so simple.
Actual behaviour
I've two methods provided by the same party.
