Your files never touch a server. Everything runs locally — no uploads, no account, no telemetry. The whole point of a desktop app.
// Watch it compress
Drag the handle. Optimo did this locally — same photo, 93% smaller, no quality you'd notice losing.

JPG → WebP · quality auto-tuned to a target size
// The app

// FAQ
Image optimization is free forever — no account, no upload, no catch — including every format, quality and resize control, metadata stripping, and all 8 built-in presets — 50 images a day, in batches of up to 10 files.
Video optimization, unlimited batch sizes, target file size, and custom presets are Optimo Pro Lifetime: one payment of $19, yours for good — no subscription, no renewal. Every download includes three free video conversions, so you can check it does what you need before paying anything.
No. Every byte stays on your machine — Optimo has no servers for your media, no sign-in, and nothing to upload to.
For completeness, the app makes exactly two kinds of outbound request, neither of which touches your files: an update check (disable it in Settings), and — if you have activated Optimo Pro Lifetime — a licence check with our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, at most about once a week, so a refunded or revoked key stops unlocking Pro. It sends your licence key and a machine name, nothing else. The free tier never makes that call.
macOS doesn’t — the mac builds are Developer ID signed and notarized by
Apple, so Optimo opens cleanly. Just drag it to Applications and eject the
disk image before launching, or macOS runs a temporary copy and your
settings won’t stick. Windows SmartScreen still says “Windows protected
your PC” because the Windows build isn’t signed yet (a certificate is on the
roadmap) — click More info → Run anyway. Linux AppImage:
chmod +x Optimo-*.AppImage.
Images: PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP, ICO, SVG. Videos: MP4, WebM, MKV, MOV, AVI, GIF. Codecs: H.264, H.265, VP8, VP9, AV1 (video); AAC, MP3, Opus, Vorbis, FLAC (audio). Hardware acceleration on H.264/H.265 via NVENC, VideoToolbox, or VAAPI when available.
Windows 10+ (x64), macOS 11+ (Apple Silicon or Intel), or a modern desktop Linux (AppImage or .deb, x86_64). ~150 MB on disk after install. FFmpeg is bundled — nothing extra to install.
