Add libvtp - An Open-Core, Native 4:2:2 Video Transmission Protocol for Linux #240

Description

@now2media

Hi everyone,

I would like to propose adding libvtp to this Awesome List under the Multimedia / Broadcasting / Networking section.

libvtp (Video Transmission Protocol) is an open-core, lightweight, and ultra-high-performance C++ SDK engineered specifically for real-time video and audio streaming over local networks (LAN/WiFi) on Linux.

Unlike traditional low-bandwidth protocols that force a 4:2:0 chroma subsampling due to hardware constraints, VTP utilizes a zero-copy SIMD pipeline powered by TurboJPEG to preserve native 4:2:2 chroma subsampling. This entirely eliminates color bleeding and edge pixelation, making it a critical asset for professional Chroma Key (Green Screen) isolation and sharp CG/Character Generator text boundaries in live production workflows.

Key Highlights:

  • Sub-10ms end-to-end transmission and decompression latency.
  • Full encapsulation via the Pimpl Pattern and hidden symbol visibility to guarantee zero global runtime clashes with heavy suites like NDI® or Blackmagic DeckLink SDK.
  • Microsecond-accurate PTS embedded audio synchronization.
  • Zero-overhead pure C binding layer for multi-language compatibility (Python, Rust, Go, C#, etc.).

We believe this library fills a massive gap for developers building production-grade broadcast software on Linux without dealing with the sheer complexity of raw FFmpeg/GStreamer plumbing.

Thank you for your time and for maintaining this incredible resource for the developer community!
