Issue
The two pages provide different context about WSL version requirements, creating potential confusion about what users actually need:
In _index.md:
If you are using WSL2 backend, ensure you're running WSL version 2.6 or later. This is required because ECI depends on a Linux kernel version of at least 6.3.0, and WSL 2.6+ includes kernel version 6.6.
In limitations.md:
Docker Desktop requires WSL 2 version 2.1.5 or later. ECI on the WSL 2 backend requires WSL version 2.6 or later because ECI depends on a Linux kernel version of at least 6.3.0.
Why this matters
A reader trying to understand WSL requirements encounters two different minimum versions:
- 2.1.5+ for Docker Desktop generally
- 2.6+ for ECI specifically
While technically both statements may be accurate (Docker Desktop works with 2.1.5+, but ECI needs 2.6+), the _index.md page doesn't mention the 2.1.5 baseline at all, which could lead readers to think 2.6 is required for Docker Desktop itself, not just for ECI.
Additionally, the _index.md presents this as a simple prerequisite without explaining that Docker Desktop can run without ECI on older WSL versions. This framing could confuse users who have WSL 2.1.5-2.5 and wonder if they can use Docker Desktop at all.
Suggested fix
Clarify the relationship between these requirements consistently across both pages:
- In _index.md, acknowledge that Docker Desktop works with WSL 2.1.5+, but ECI specifically requires 2.6+
- In limitations.md, ensure the note clearly distinguishes between general Docker Desktop requirements and ECI-specific requirements
- Consider adding a note in _index.md that users with WSL 2.1.5-2.5 can use Docker Desktop but cannot enable ECI
Example for _index.md:
If you are using the WSL 2 backend, Enhanced Container Isolation requires WSL version 2.6 or later (Docker Desktop itself works with WSL 2.1.5+). This is required because ECI depends on a Linux kernel version of at least 6.3.0, and WSL 2.6+ includes kernel version 6.6.
